MLM Prospecting and Picking Up Women

My wife and I have been watching a crazy show on VH1 called "The Pick Up Artist".  It's about this guy named "Mystery" who takes a bunch of nerds and turns them into men who have mastered the art of talking with and picking up women.

What I find to be very interesting is that a lot of what "Mystery" teaches can easily be applied to Prospecting in Network Marketing.

Here are a couple of points:

1. Assign value to yourself.  People view me as an expert in my field because I chose to be a professional instead of an amateur. Of course I know my "stuff" and I am a student of the industry and I study successful entrepreneurs, but I also have the posture and mindset that who I am and what I do is of very high value.
      
    
2. When you are approaching someone in a face to face (3 foot rule) situation, be aware of the physiology.  If you go right up to someone and start talking with them about your deal, they probably view you as a threat.  If you are shoulder to shoulder with someone and start up a conversation, they will be less likely to have a bad physiological reaction towards you.
      
    
3. There are no good pick up lines,  but there are good conversation starters.  This is where I like to have fun.  If I am in line somewhere and see a person who has high energy and looks like they are having fun, I might ask them
      
   "What's up with you, why are you having such a great day?"
      
   "Are you in this good of a mood all the time?"
      
   Those are simple conversation starters in lieu of some set line that you use on anyone you meet.

Pick Up Artists (or PUA's) even deal with "Approach Anxiety".  In my early days of Network Marketing I used to spend more time staring at the phone and organizing my names list than I would dialing the phone and talking to people.
