Welcome to the MLM Blog

Tribble My name is Ty Tribble and I would like to welcome you to the MLM Blog. I launched this site in 2003 as a journal of my thoughts and opinions on Network Marketing.

While I write about many companies, I am only active in one, if you would like more information about myself or my business, visit my personal web site at TyTribble.com

If you have story ideas, comments or questions, you can contact me at ty (at) tribble (dot) org.

Positive About Network Marketing

I feel like I have beat to death the fact that Network Marketing is entering the mainstream, yet I still see people struggle with the perception of our industry. So obviously, I haven't finished my job (yet).

I recently had someone tell me that they are having trouble exposing their Network Marketing business to Real Estate professionals. Now that's funny. In case you haven't heard, Network Marketing grew by over 1 million new people in the U.S. in 2006.

How is Real Estate doing about now?

The exchange has lit a bit of a fire under my butt to expand on an article that I wrote for the book, "It's Time...for Network Marketing. The most remarkable form of free enterprise".  The article is titled "MLM Goes Mainstream" and discusses what your brother in law doesn't know about the industry that you have your hands on.

More on "MLM Goes Mainstream" soon...

Today, I want to direct you to a new book titled, "How to Open & Operate a Financially Successful Retail Business: With Companion CD-ROM" by Janet Engle. I'm sure you are asking yourself, "why this book?", and the answer is simple.  The author included information about Network Marketing within her "History of Retailing" section.  Within the information about Network Marketing is a section that features me. (It's on page 16, providing great visibility for our industry).

Here is a quick quote:

According to Ty, nothing can take the place of passion and enthusiasm for the product.

"Want to be successful in Network Marketing? Find a product that you really love and tell other people about it."

Now ask yourself this: Why would a book about "How To Open & Operate a Financially Successful Retail Business" include a section (within the first 16 pages!) about a pyramid deal or scam?

The answer?  Network Marketing is not a pyramid deal or scam.  It's a legitimate industry that is gaining more acceptance each and every day.

You can pick up the book through Amazon (my affiliate link) or just search Amazon for:

Save $600 On MLM Traffic Formula

I made a post yesterday about Mike Dillard's MLM Traffic Formula and didn't realize that the testimony page had not been updated with the limited price of $397.

On January 1st, the MLM Traffic Formula price will go up to $997, but you can save $600 by getting it now here:
http://mlmblog.mlmtrafficformula.com/letter.html

I actually refer to MLM Traffic Formula materials on a weekly basis.  It is the most in depth course on Internet - Network Marketing available today.

Don't miss this special (only 2 days to go).

Click here to read the MLM Traffic Formula testimony page.

Some of you will pay $997 for this program, it is that good...to save $600 and get it for $397, visit this link now.

First Class MLM with Tim Sales

Well known Network Marketing trainer, Tim Sales (Brilliant Compensation ring a bell?) has launched a new web site with a goal to provide non-company specific answers to questions about MLM.

So far, so good...lots of great information.  It will be interesting to see how the site progresses.

Last Chance For MLM Traffic Formula

OK, not exactly last chance, but rather last chance to save $600...

About six months ago, I got my hands on Mike Dillard's MLM Traffic Formula ($497 at the time) and to this day, it has had the most impact (of any training materials) on my business in my 15 years of Network Marketing.

Well, I just got word that this program was only being offered for $497 for a limited time and it will soon (January 1st!!!) go up to $997. The program is easily worth $997 and I don't blame Mike for raising the price.  In fact, I made tens of thousands of dollars over the last six months using the techniques taught in the MLM Traffic Formula.

But I have great news for you...

Mike Dillard is offering a last chance price for the MLM Traffic Formula of $397.

I'm not trying to make some big pitch here, I just don't want you to miss out on this special price and then get mad at me for not letting you know about the chance to save $600.

(Remember, this program changed my life and I refer to it multiple times a week).

Orrin Woodward Talks About The MLM Blog and Ty Tribble

A few days ago, I wrote an article about Orrin Woodward and The TEAM and how I believe building methods that the TEAM uses would perform with a different compensation plan outside of Quixtar.

Would you believe that Orrin Woodward actually commented on my post? (Yes, I confirmed that it was actually him.) If you follow my blog closely, you might remember that Orrin's lawyer and I have had a handful of "exchanges" in the past.  I have been critical of Orrin and the TEAM in the past, but if you really look at what I have been saying all along, you will see that I am really more critical of Quixtar because of the price of their products and the poor compensation plan.

The majority of my criticism directed at Orrin Woodward and the TEAM was because people were losing money in Quixtar and to be honest the $80-ish a month on training is not the biggest factor in that loss.

There is little doubt that the TEAM training system could use a price cut (in my opinion), but the numbers from the TEAM camp are nothing short of amazing considering the Quixtar  reputation, product pricing and compensation plan.

If done right, the TEAM concept applied to  right company will have a lot of people making thousands of dollars in Network Marketing and that is a good thing for the industry.

So, in case you missed Orrin's comments, here they are:

Ty, I have enjoyed your articles and believe you are one of the most experienced people in the MLM field. You have studied the companies and have benchmarked the best in different areas. When I look for news in the MLM area I come to your site. thanks, Orrin (Woodward)

Orrin Woodward's TEAM Analysis II

In my last post, I talked about how Orrin Woodward's TEAM would might see great success in a Network Marketing Binary Compensation plan.

However, I should also point out that the TEAM concept (again slightly modified) would work well (perhaps better in the long run) with a Unilevel compensation plan as long as there are some additional depth bonuses. (Univera has this type of plan.)

The Unilevel plan is considered (by many) to be the most fair plan for the average person.

In the case of Univera's compensation, the added depth bonuses (called generational bonus) allows an associate to be paid (2 to 14%) as far down as six diamond level organizations in depth.

Imagine someone from the TEAM who used to spend $300/month to make 100PV, now spending $125/month to make 100PV, with every person (on their team) netting out a larger check bonus check. That is the potential of a new plan for the TEAM.

See Jim Rohn and Mark Victor Hansen in Dallas, Texas

Lbb I just secured an incredible deal for my blog and newsletter readers...

On January 3rd - 5th, Jim Rohn, Mark Victor Hansen, Jerry Clark, Todd Falcone, Jeffery Combs, Susan Sly, Erica Combs, Pat Mesiti, Former Major League Baseball Player and current MLB Coach - Dave Collins and more will be speaking at the More Heart Than Talent Conference in Dallas, Texas.

You can also meet me, (Ty Tribble) as well, but I'd probably go for Rohn, Victor Hansen, Clark, Falcone and the gang.

Here is the deal, be one of the first 10 people to register through this link - More Heart Than Talent Event - at a steal of a price - $99 for the entire weekend (regular price $399) and I will get Todd Falcone to give you a signed copy of his new book, "Todd Falcone's Little Black Book of Scripts: Tips, Letters and eMails" (a $49.95 value). All you need to do is be in that first 10 that register and you can pick up your book at Todd's table at the event.

Orrin Woodward's Team Would Tear Up A Binary Plan

Fununltd I was in Phoenix over the weekend at a Network Marketing event with Todd Falcone, Jeffery Combs, Erica Combs and Michael Bernoff, where I met the owner of a Network Marketing company by the name of Michael Wenniger.  Wenniger owns Fun Unlimited which is actually being re-branded as I write this.  He has a much better name coming out soon. (I'll get you the new name once I have permission).

Anyways, I spent a few hours hanging out with Mike and talking about his company, a binary compensation plan with health and wellness products.  The biggest claim to fame for the company is their Power Pops which are candy that help people lose weight.  Chris Angel and Britney Spears have reportedly both used the candy.

The company also has a vitamin lollipop designed for children.  Pretty unique products that seem to be priced well,  (50 cents to one dollar for the weight loss and vitamin lollipops). They also have a skincare line and a new functional beverage coming out soon and they do not have an autoship requirement in order to get your check.

Now, I mentioned earlier that this company has a binary compensation plan and for those that are not clear on comp plans, a binary has two legs or teams.  Typically (not in every case) one of the legs or teams is called the "Power Leg" and is usually built by the leaders within the company, leaving others to focus on the lesser leg.

Orrin_woodward This type of compensation plan got me to thinking about Orrin Woodward's former Quixtar group called "The TEAM".  Let me say this...I don't agree with the amount of money that the TEAM charges it's members for training, but I can not argue with their ability to bring in numbers, especially into a deal as bad as Quixtar.

What I am driving at here is that if the TEAM were to apply their strategy (slightly modified) to a company like the one Mike Wenniger owns, they would tear it up.  The binary compensation plan is focused on depth.  Mike's plan also has some matching bonus money that could bring in huge checks.

I'm not trying to broker a deal here, just pointing out that the main problem with the TEAM is probably not the amount of money that they make on training, it was probably the company they chose to affiliate with.  If the TEAM were to build a binary with the numbers they bring in, a lot of people would be making money through products moving into the hands of consumers.

Is The Network Marketing Old School Dead?

Rip There has been a lot of talk recently about the death of "Old School" Network Marketing.  I have been a vocal proponent of "The New School" along with Kim Klaver for some time now but I sense that the topic is getting fuzzy.

When I talk about the "New School of Network Marketing", I am talking about less hype and more substance.  Some people have labeled the "New School", online marketing or Network Marketing 2.0 and they are throwing around terms like obsolete when referring to some methods like building in your warm market and in person meetings.

Here is the reality...I know a lot of people who still teach warm market and in person meetings and they make hundreds of thousands of dollars per year. In fact, one of the hottest companies in Network Marketing was reportedly in deep trouble before they found one leader who focused on getting the product into the hands of people and then getting the people to a meeting. As a matter of fact, I just thought of another company with a similar story.

Are things changing in the industry?  Of course they are, but that doesn't mean that the basics of the industry have changed.  We still move products through a network of people who make commissions on the sales of those products.

I am a big believer in Branding You, Web 2.0, Video, Funded Proposals and MLM Blogging, but if I saw a person at Starbucks with a high energy level and an attractive personality, I would talk to them!

It's all about Multiple Streams of Leads, including...

One of the things that I really think people miss is that this industry is still about relationships.  When I get a lead from something that I had done online, my goal is to get them on the phone with me as soon as possible.  If they are local to me, I will do my best to meet them face to face.  The tools offer me the ability to create a large number of leads, but the relationships hold the business together for the long term.

Ann Sieg Revises the Renegade Network Marketer eBook

Revision of The Renegade Network Marketer E-book, Original release June 11, 2007 has been released in 2nd Edition November 29th, 2007.

The E-book revised and released November 29th 2007 is written by Ann Sieg, Author & President of 80/20 Marketing, Inc. Ann has been a leader in the online marketing industry and self proclaimed "Renegade" for several years. Her book teaches marketing to the network and internet marketer.

/24-7PressRelease/ - WEST ST. PAUL, MN, December 05, 2007 - Author/President Ann Sieg 80/20 Marketing, Inc. releases second edition of The Renegade Network Marketer E-book.

On November 29th, 2007 in an invitation only webinar Ann Sieg announced the revision and release of the E-book "The Renegade Network Marketer".

In a joint effort with Dr. Ken Evoy, owner of SiteSell.com and SiteBuildIt! The webinar discussed the importance of having a web presence for online marketers and the book revisions detail of the importance of such planning for the benefit of marketing online.

The E-book originally written and released in June of 2007 for struggling network marketers has been promoted extensively on the internet and the revision has been called "The next generation" by Dr. Ken Evoy.

Some of the revisions in the book include:

-How to make money from people who say "no" to your opportunity (or anything else you're selling for that matter).

-How to make money from people who leave your website and never do anything - not even give you their email address.

-How to continue to generate sales over and over again for months, and even years, from people who quit your business and stop buying your company's product altogether.

Network Marketing 2.0 - The Birth?

I had to giggle when I saw Ellie Drake and Mike Filsaime's "Birth of Network Marketing 2.0" eBook.  I have been talking (and writing) about MLM 2.0 since at least October of 2006, so that would make Network Marketing 2.0 probably more like a walking toddler instead of a newborn. But Mike Dillard talks about it going back 4 or 5 years...

Mike Dillard put it this way in a recent email:

Unfortunately “Networking 2.0” already happened 4-5 years ago when PPC, replicated sites, streaming-audio, flash presentations, and autoresponders went mainstream. Those things represented an industry shift over the previous 30+ years which relied on tapes, fax machines, and the phone. (Networking 1.0).

If we’re going to designate the evolution of the industry with a number, then we’re well on our way to 3.0 at this point thanks to social networking and what's now the equivalent of online television, which I’ll discuss in more detail in a later observation. So welcome to the party guys. Fashionably late is better than never! ;)

Mike is so right.  I sponsored 150 people in 9 months back in 2003 - 2004 by using Google Adwords to direct people to my company provided replicated web site.  That was Network Marketing 2.0, yet that would never work today, or if it did work, it wouldn't be cost effective.

Is Larry Winters Leaving Quixtar?

File this in the MLM Rumor Mill until further notice, but I have heard and noticed some interesting search engine trends that suggest that Larry Winters might be preparing to pack up and leave Quixtar.

Some are speculating that Larry was watching the Orrin Woodward/Team lawsuits to see what happens before he takes his team to another company.  The main reasoning behind the possible move is apparently Quixtar's change back to the Amway name.

Again, this is only a rumor at this point, but we have been pretty accurate in terms of Larry Winters in the past when we broke the story about Larry Winters leaving Britt World Wide for his own system, LTD.

Update:

To be more specific, I have noticed that people are finding my web site by searching "Larry Winters Leaving Quixtar".  That doesn't mean that Larry Winters is leaving Quixtar, it just means that people are curious about that subject.  In no way, shape or form am I reporting that Larry Winters is leaving Quixtar.  For all I know people could have Larry Winters confused with Orrin Woodward.

Update 2:

A couple of people seem to be threatening legal action over this post.  This is a very simple process.  If the rumor is untrue, Larry Winters, or someone that works for Larry Winters can send me an email: mlmblog@mlmblog.net, telling me that the rumor is false.  I will immediately update the post to reflect the statement.

Update 3 (final update?):

After getting a couple of additional searches related to "larry winters new mlm", I did some additional investigation and found that Quixtar's IBOAI Board Blog has posted a response to this rumor (would have been neat if they had told me...oh well).

Here is the response:

Online rumors that Double Diamond Larry Winters is discontinuing his Quixtar business are completely false.  It's the kind of outlandish thing bloggers write when they have nothing substantive to say.

My response is that I can show proof that people are searching Google for "larry winters new mlm" and I am guessing that some of my readers think that is substantive. Again, I am not saying that Larry Winters is leaving Quixtar (or is it Amway?), just that I noticed search traffic and in that past, search traffic has been fairly accurate.

Live Phoenix, Arizona MLM Training Event

Phoenix, Arizona in mid-December sounds like a pretty nice place to be.

I will be in Phoenix on December 15th along with Jeffery Combs and Todd Falcone for an all day training event. One big insider secret I can tell you is that Todd Falcone is going to unveil a project that he has been working on for over 10 years.

So, if you want to kick off 2008 on a positive note, Jeffery and Todd might be a great springboard for you.

As a bonus for reading my blog (or subscribing to my newsletter), I will be doing an exclusive Internet Success Q & A session following the main training by Jeffery Combs and Todd Falcone.

Weather at my house is expected to be a High of 40 and a Low of 27, while Phoenix looks like a high of 70 and a low of about 50.

Let's see, hang out with million dollar Network Marketing producers for the weekend AND get see that round thing in the sky called a sun for the first time since I returned from Mexico?

Not a touch call.  See YOU in Phoenix.

Re: QBI Bonus and Founders Platinum Bonus

To whom it may concern,

We are writing you today to inquire about our Founders Platinum and QBI bonuses. To date, we have not received either of these bonuses. We have called your company several times to inquire about these bonuses. Each time we have encountered a similar response, “all bonuses affiliated with Team IBO’s are under review”. I didn’t realize the IBO’s affiliated with Team had different qualifications of those not affiliated with Team.

In May of ’07 my husband and I attended your Platinum Conference. We had a wonderful time, and your company laid out the red carpet for us. Your staff and the service went above and beyond to make our stay informative and enjoyable. We were informed there, by one of your staff members, that we were right on track for our QBI and Founders Platinum bonuses. According to our QBI tracking report for August of ’07, we are eligible for that bonus. To the best of my knowledge, 12 qualified months in 1 fiscal year also qualifies us for a Founders Platinum bonus.

We were independent business owners with your company for almost three years. As far as we know, we were business owners in good standing. Therefore, we fail to understand why you are holding our bonuses. As you know, the end of the year is rapidly approaching and we would greatly appreciate a response to this correspondence, in writing, which explains what exactly is being reviewed about our qualifications for these bonuses.

We appreciate your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Dominic & Terry Zettel

Subject: QBI Bonus

QBI money and trips are offered and paid at Quixtar's sole discretion. If you would like to appeal Quixtar's decision not to pay, you may seek conciliation through Quixtar's dispute resolution process.

Julie Savara

Are you serious?  Quixtar now pays it's IBO's at their discretion instead of actual qualifications.  What the hell?  How can any Quixtar IBO feel comfortable with that deal?

Quixtar and it's loyal IBOs are busy spouting off about the $60 million in new bonuses that the company has promised but from the looks of it, they can yank those bonuses out from underneath you at any time.

So much for the "best business opportunity in the world".

The Death Of Network Marketing? Free eBook Download Here

There is quite a bit of hoopla about a new eBook by Ellie Drake and Michael Filsaime called "The Death Of Network Marketing".

Here is the deal:  Network Marketing is not dead or dieing, in fact it grew by more than 1 million people in the U.S. in 2006.

To be honest, I haven't read the book yet, but I know for a fact that people will be searching for "The Death of Network Marketing" on Google and if people are going to be curious and download this book, I would like them to be curious and come here to see me.

The book is free and from what I understand, there is nothing else to buy. But you will not be finding the book here. Instead I am going to give you a different book and an invitation to subscribe to my newsletter that will give you all kinds of great tips about increasing the size of your bonus check.

Yup, I am using the hype of this "Death of Network Marketing" to promote a couple of things that I really believe in.  I did have a link to the Death book here at one point, but I took it down.

Remember, the only constant is change, but it would be silly to think that even the basics of Network Marketing is dead.

Find a great product that you believe in and give some of it away to people. You will find business.

Here are two free resources for you to enjoy in place of the death book:
