I have read roughly a book a week for the last twelve months and I can tell you without question the book that made the most impact on my life is "The Go-Giver".

Orrin Woodward's TEAM Analysis II

In my last post, I talked about how Orrin Woodward's TEAM would might see great success in a Network Marketing Binary Compensation plan.

However, I should also point out that the TEAM concept (again slightly modified) would work well (perhaps better in the long run) with a Unilevel compensation plan as long as there are some additional depth bonuses. (Univera has this type of plan.)

The Unilevel plan is considered (by many) to be the most fair plan for the average person.

In the case of Univera's compensation, the added depth bonuses (called generational bonus) allows an associate to be paid (2 to 14%) as far down as six diamond level organizations in depth.

Imagine someone from the TEAM who used to spend $300/month to make 100PV, now spending $125/month to make 100PV, with every person (on their team) netting out a larger check bonus check. That is the potential of a new plan for the TEAM.

Orrin Woodward's Team Would Tear Up A Binary Plan

I was in Phoenix over the weekend at a Network Marketing event with Todd Falcone, Jeffery Combs, Erica Combs and Michael Bernoff, where I met the owner of a Network Marketing company by the name of Michael Wenniger.  Wenniger owns Fun Unlimited which is actually being re-branded as I write this.  He has a much better name coming out soon. (I'll get you the new name once I have permission). 

Anyways, I spent a few hours hanging out with Mike and talking about his company, a binary compensation plan with health and wellness products.  The biggest claim to fame for the company is their Power Pops which are candy that help people lose weight.  Chris Angel and Britney Spears have reportedly both used the candy.

The company also has a vitamin lollipop designed for children.  Pretty unique products that seem to be priced well,  (50 cents to one dollar for the weight loss and vitamin lollipops). They also have a skincare line and a new functional beverage coming out soon and they do not have an autoship requirement in order to get your check.

Now, I mentioned earlier that this company has a binary compensation plan and for those that are not clear on comp plans, a binary has two legs or teams.  Typically (not in every case) one of the legs or teams is called the "Power Leg" and is usually built by the leaders within the company, leaving others to focus on the lesser leg.

This type of compensation plan got me to thinking about Orrin Woodward's former Quixtar group called "The TEAM".  Let me say this...I don't agree with the amount of money that the TEAM charges it's members for training, but I can not argue with their ability to bring in numbers, especially into a deal as bad as Quixtar.

What I am driving at here is that if the TEAM were to apply their strategy (slightly modified) to a company like the one Mike Wenniger owns, they would tear it up.  The binary compensation plan is focused on depth.  Mike's plan also has some matching bonus money that could bring in huge checks. 

I'm not trying to broker a deal here, just pointing out that the main problem with the TEAM is probably not the amount of money that they make on training, it was probably the company they chose to affiliate with.  If the TEAM were to build a binary with the numbers they bring in, a lot of people would be making money through products moving into the hands of consumers.

Live Phoenix, Arizona MLM Training Event

Phoenix, Arizona in mid-December sounds like a pretty nice place to be.

Quixtar Believes Woodward & Co. Behind Blog and YouTube Posting

This post below comes directly from the Alticor Media Blog. The Alticor folks have been very gracious with allowing me to publish full posts from the site.

You might find it interesting that Alticor, (Amway/Quixtar) has never contacted me about the opinions that I share on the MLM Blog, and I have definitely been pointed at times.  I did get a letter once about some pictures that I posted because Alticor felt the pictures were under copyright protection.  I removed the pictures and have since only heard from Alticor/Amway/Quixtar in cordial communication.

Yes, we did.

We filed suit this week in Ottawa County, Michigan seeking to learn more about a number of “John Does” who have cropped up online since our dispute with Orrin Woodward and TEAM began.

Because we believe we can prove that some of their sites and posts were engineered or directed by Woodward, TEAM, their lawyers or their PR agency. And that those sites were purposely used to post material that violates a court order.

To us, this is a necessary measure in a commercial dispute. Because we believe the TEAM machine has been fighting dirty, abusing the online discussion and end-running the court.

(It’s also a necessary step in a technical sense – the companies that host these sites will not divulge information without a subpoena. You can’t get a subpoena without going to court. So if you want to demonstrate that Blogger X’s “spontaneous” site is actually part of a planned-and-paid-for strategy of commercial attack… that’s the road you have to go down.)

So we are seeking to support the legal system – and not attack First Amendment speech. Tough line to walk, but we’ll walk it. Because we believe in both principles.

It could very well be that some of these sites truly are spontaneous, just angry citizens independently voicing their opinions without direction from anyone else. We have no problem with those folks. We don’t want their money, we regret wasting their time and we will even offer to reimburse their costs.

There are plenty of individuals out there posting critical comments about our company, on this site and others. We welcome the debate and value their opinions. (Don’t believe that? Scan through the 4,000 comments of all stripes we’ve posted here since August.)

But e-guerrillas who won’t own up to being bought and paid for in a commercial dispute so they can end-run a court of law are another matter. We invite them to come on out – and fight in broad daylight.

MLM Prospecting and Picking Up Women

My wife and I have been watching a crazy show on VH1 called "The Pick Up Artist".  It's about this guy named "Mystery" who takes a bunch of nerds and turns them into men who have mastered the art of talking with and picking up women.

What I find to be very interesting is that a lot of what "Mystery" teaches can easily be applied to Prospecting in Network Marketing.

Here are a couple of points:

1. Assign value to yourself.  People view me as an expert in my field because I chose to be a professional instead of an amateur. Of course I know my "stuff" and I am a student of the industry and I study successful entrepreneurs, but I also have the posture and mindset that who I am and what I do is of very high value.
      
    
2. When you are approaching someone in a face to face (3 foot rule) situation, be aware of the physiology.  If you go right up to someone and start talking with them about your deal, they probably view you as a threat.  If you are shoulder to shoulder with someone and start up a conversation, they will be less likely to have a bad physiological reaction towards you.
      
    
3. There are no good pick up lines,  but there are good conversation starters.  This is where I like to have fun.  If I am in line somewhere and see a person who has high energy and looks like they are having fun, I might ask them
      
   "What's up with you, why are you having such a great day?"
      
   "Are you in this good of a mood all the time?"
      
   Those are simple conversation starters in lieu of some set line that you use on anyone you meet.

Pick Up Artists (or PUA's) even deal with "Approach Anxiety".  In my early days of Network Marketing I used to spend more time staring at the phone and organizing my names list than I would dialing the phone and talking to people.

Connecting With People

The Principle of Connecting: Most of us want to know how to connect better with others in relationships of every kind, including business relationships. We often feel the desire to connect, but sadly realize that our attempts have not truly been successful. However, we can all experience consistently satisfying connections when we understand the hidden dynamics by which they are ruled.

Connecting occurs when one is simultaneously intra-connected and inter-connected. Intra-connection is the connection of one to oneself. Inter-connection is the connection of with others. These must occur at the same time, although the intra-connection is the foundation of inter-connection, and must be cultivated in order for connection to really take place.

Imagine that our attempts to connect with others are like an iceberg. The tip of the iceberg represents what we say. The foundation of the iceberg, the base that holds the tip above the surface of the ocean, is how we feel when we say what we say. The feeling beneath the words provides an emotional current that gets infused within the words as they are spoken. The reason why we feel as we do is the point of origin of the feeling that becomes infused into our attempt to connect.
