Is Larry Winters Leaving Quixtar?

File this in the MLM Rumor Mill until further notice, but I have heard and noticed some interesting search engine trends that suggest that Larry Winters might be preparing to pack up and leave Quixtar.

Some are speculating that Larry was watching the Orrin Woodward/Team lawsuits to see what happens before he takes his team to another company.  The main reasoning behind the possible move is apparently Quixtar's change back to the Amway name.

Again, this is only a rumor at this point, but we have been pretty accurate in terms of Larry Winters in the past when we broke the story about Larry Winters leaving Britt World Wide for his own system, LTD.

Update:

To be more specific, I have noticed that people are finding my web site by searching "Larry Winters Leaving Quixtar".  That doesn't mean that Larry Winters is leaving Quixtar, it just means that people are curious about that subject.  In no way, shape or form am I reporting that Larry Winters is leaving Quixtar.  For all I know people could have Larry Winters confused with Orrin Woodward.

Update 2:

A couple of people seem to be threatening legal action over this post.  This is a very simple process.  If the rumor is untrue, Larry Winters, or someone that works for Larry Winters can send me an email: mlmblog@mlmblog.net, telling me that the rumor is false.  I will immediately update the post to reflect the statement.

Update 3 (final update?):

After getting a couple of additional searches related to "larry winters new mlm", I did some additional investigation and found that Quixtar's IBOAI Board Blog has posted a response to this rumor (would have been neat if they had told me...oh well).

Here is the response:

Online rumors that Double Diamond Larry Winters is discontinuing his Quixtar business are completely false.  It's the kind of outlandish thing bloggers write when they have nothing substantive to say.

My response is that I can show proof that people are searching Google for "larry winters new mlm" and I am guessing that some of my readers think that is substantive. Again, I am not saying that Larry Winters is leaving Quixtar (or is it Amway?), just that I noticed search traffic and in that past, search traffic has been fairly accurate.

The TEAM Mighty 11...oops...10...wait...9....errr...8

First there was the Mighty 11.  Eleven high level Quixtar IBO's joined Orrin Woodward to make a stand against the Quixtar tyranny.  Then, Fred Harteis said "I was never part if this deal".

Now Don Wilson and Randy Haugen are out as well.

Would you believe that Orrin Woodward and Chris Brady are now leaving the TEAM?

The TEAM is crumbling, in fact, Orrin Woodward doesn't even want to be associated with the TEAM.

What's that leave, like 6 leaders?

Where does that leave TEAM IBO's?

Up a creek holding a non-compete.

P.S. Does TEAM have it's own non-compete agreement?

Larry Winters Videos Hit YouTube

I thought this was pretty funny.

Here is a link to the actual Larry Winters tax documents.

Quixtar Dateline NBC on YouTube (2 Parts)

Thousands of true believers gathered in celebration at arenas across the country, all convinced they've found the true path to success, to wealth beyond their wildest dreams. The promises are golden, fueling dream they do -- of luxury homes, fancy cars, yachts and private planes. So who are all these people and what are they so worked up about?

The people are distributors for a company called Quixtar, which says it's had $3 billion in sales since 1999. They say the company's special formula for success has made them rich. But their main purpose here is to tell all these thousands of other distributors that they can do it, too.

Why Quixtar Didn't Appear on Dateline NBC

This is why Quixtar chose not to appear on the Dateline NBC story.

Freelife's Dr. Mendell made a bunch of claims about Goji Juice and ended up with his foot in his mouth.

Quixtar's executives would probably look equally as foolish answering direct questions about the system tools business.

Amway - Quixtar Antitrust Lawsuit Update

Kansas City Star via MLM Business Opportunities:

Plaintiffs in a massive antitrust action against Amway Corp. overcame another hurdle this week in their long quest to get their case heard by a jury.

A federal judge on Monday refused to dismiss all but one of eight counts against the company, finding that the plaintiffs’ allegations were legally sufficient to support claims of price fixing, conspiracy and other charges.

U.S. District Judge Richard E. Dorr agreed to dismiss only a civil racketeering claim, ruling that it failed to establish “a pattern of racketeering activity.”

“We are obviously pleased with the ruling,” said Kansas City lawyer Dan Boulware, who represents several Amway distributors, including Nitro Distributing Inc. of Springfield and two distributors in St. Joseph. “All of our claims survived with the exception of the racketeering claim, which was a new claim we had recently added, and the judge kept the door open for that.”

Larry Winters - $3.2 Million in Tax Liens

Larry Winters loves to talk about freedom. Apparently, "freedom" means owing the IRS $3.2 Million in taxes dating from 1997 to 2003.

Amquix.info:

Well its a good thing Larry Winters has qualified to have his own system now, as it seems he will need the extra money to help keep his taxes up to date.  It appears the IRS nailed him with $3.2 million in assessments for taxes all the way back to 1997.

See the documents below:

1996 NC State tax lien:  $121980*

1997 Federal Tax lien:  $536,518* Filed in May 2005
1998 Federal Tax lien:  $569,069*
1999 Federal Tax lien:  $724,020*

2000 Federal Tax lien: $341,616*  Filed in May 2005

2001 Federal Tax lien: $556,440*  Filed June 2004
2003 Federal Tax line:  $546,307*

Larry Winters recently launched his own Quixtar support system called Leadership Development Team. Winter's allegedly "broke away" from Bill Britt's BWW team in response to Britt's recent scandals.

Larry Winters was featured in the Dateline NBC expose' on Quixtar and later called the show a "satanic attack".

Quixtar Scam - FBI & IRS?

Dateline NBC:

What about others involved in Quixtar? Both the FBI and the criminal division of the IRS are making separate inquiries into at least two top distributors not focused on in this report. In the meantime, hundreds of thousands of true believers are drawn into Quixtar every year, dazzled by the promise of the good life.  But unless things change, says Bo Short, it's a broken promise that will leave broken hearts.

MLM Blog Reader Comments

The following is a comment on the Quixtar - Dateline NBC Post (It is lengthy but offers some interesting perspective):

This was a very interesting story! I started my network marketing career with Amway in 1972 when I was 21 years old. I loved the business and everything that went with it: books, tapes, rallies, seminars and other major functions. I even wrote a song called, "Fly with the eagles or scratch with the chickens" and we use to sing it at rallies and seminars.

Amway was a personal growth program for me, as I believe it is and was for most people who are or were involved with it. However, I realized at one point that Dexter Yeager and Bill Britt had a huge business in support materials and function promotion. Cassette tapes were just coming out back then. We use to have reel to reel tape recorders that we would take to functions to tape them. They sold cassette tapes for $3 apiece back then when they finally came out. Years later they sold videos for $20 each and tapes for about double what they did in the beginning. I know people here in Nashville who pay $6 for one CD.

Any leader or company which makes a living off the backs of their organizations through over priced tools and functions is not worthy of those organizations! People need to be trained and mentored for sure but not by being raped financially with over priced tools!

Most people are unaware that Amway distributors are brain washed with traditional brain washing techniques. That's how these big hitters keep the same broke people in the loop year after year even though they haven't made a dime, but rather have lost money! Because of the programming they receive, any distributor who has been in "The Business" for any length of time will not even make a decision about buying a car without first checking with "The Upline" first. It seems as though people relinquish or even lose their ability to reason for themselves.

I have fond memories of my time in Amway. Every network marketer in the world owes a debt of gratitude to Rich DeVos and Jay VanAndel, the founders of Amway. If they hadn't won the case against the FTC back in 1975 we would even be taking about this today! Unfortunately, in my opinion, Rich and Jay lost control of the company when Dexter Yeager changed the way Amway did business and showed the marketing plan with $100 circles. He changed Amway from a retailing company to a wholesale distributing company that started to look like a pyramid operation and that's what got them into trouble with the FTC to start with.

I have gained much from my training years ago, but I cringe at the thought of so many people being fed a bunch of hype and lies. These people bring their hopes and dreams to the table and pour out their lives in the pursuit of them based upon the untruths they have been fed. I know for a fact that the only people in Amway (I refuse to call it Quixtar-absolutely nothing is different about that business except the name) who are making any money are the people who get to sell the tools that distributors MUST buy if they don't want to be totally shunned by their uplines. The Dateline piece quoted Amway and people like Bill Britt as saying that the tool purchasing was not a requirement. Ask anyone in that business if they will get any support at all if they refuse to "get with the program" and get the tools. The answer will be that they will be totally shunned and will be out in the cold as far as getting any help is concerned.

Network marketing is a power business model that can change a person's life. However, many years of failure and frustration is what many people experience before they ever get properly trained and find the right company to work with. The world is full of warriors who refuse to give-up! They continue to dream and believe and get kicked in the head time and time again but they refuse to give up! If you are one of the warriors that I just described and you have yet to find a home or if you take issue with what I've said here or would like to discuss "old times" feel free to give me a call. I live in the central time zone. Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Merry Christmas - Quixtar Donates $2.2 Million

Yahoo Finance:

As part of its One by One Campaign for Children, Quixtar Inc. (http://www.Quixtar.com ) is donating $2.2 million in gifts to NBC's Today Show Toy Drive. Aimed at young teens, Quixtar's donation includes CD/MP3 players, Mogu dolls, watches and ARTISTRY® cosmetics. The gifts are being shipped to 15 non-profit organizations across the country for delivery to disadvantaged children -- perhaps the only gift the kids will receive this holiday season.

"We're proud to support the Today Show Toy Drive through our corporate giving program, the One by One Campaign for Children," said Jim Payne, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Quixtar. "One by One is all about making a difference in the lives of children here in the U.S. and around the world. We hope our gift will brighten the holidays for these kids and their families."

Jim Payne will appear briefly on the Today Show next Tuesday, December 20, at either 8:30 or 9 a.m. to briefly talk about Quixtar's donation.

I applaud Quixtar for the donation. At the same time, I find it a little puzzling that the donation went through the Today Show on NBC. NBC was the Network that did the Quixtar Expose' - Dateline Investigation. Can we assume there will be no follow up?

Why Quixtar IBO's leave for Univera LifeSciences

Corporate Leadership: Univera LifeSciences has a management team that has represented Fortune 500 companies and has been responsible for tens of billions of dollars in sales. Quixtar has a management team consisting of the founder's kids.

Compensation Plan: Univera LifeSciences has a hybrid compensation plan that pays 3-15% on 4 levels and an additional 5-14% down 6 generations. Quixtar has a stair-step breakaway plan that has been basically the same since 1959. As soon as someone starts producing significant volume, they are cut off from you and you are paid only 4% of 1 generation.

Business Volume: One Business Volume is Univera LifeSciences is about $1.30, meaning 100 Points cost about $130. One Business Volume in Quixtar is equal to about $2.50, meaning 100 points cost about $250.

Business Tools: CD's in Oasis cost about 75 cents each and are sold by the company. Other tools are regulated by the company. CD's in Quixtar range from $6-8/ea. (or subscribed to for $40/month) and are a profit center for the Quixtar Diamonds. Other tools are produced by the Diamond kingpins and are likely the main source of Diamond income.

More soon.
