Can Amway - Quixtar Be Built Online? Free Webinar

I got a call the other day from a Quixtar (soon to be called Amway again) IBO that was interested in using the Internet to create leads for his business.

Of course most Quixtar IBO's are looking to create business opportunity leads but that is a good way to waste time and money.  It's an uphill battle because really, who hasn't heard the 2-5 year financial freedom pitch?

If someone is searching online for a business opportunity, and you mention Amway, you are pretty much done at that point.

But I am always up for a challenge so I wanted to find an angle that would help this young man build his business. Even though I told him that other companies would be easier to build and more lucrative, he was set on Quixtar, so I set out to give him some free advice.

A friend who is well connected to Amway once told me that there are roughly 6 million former Amway/Quixtar IBOs in the U.S. and based on that number, one would assume that a handful of those people liked one or more of the products.

Ah ha!  A niche has been found.

Former Amway/Quixtar IBO's that liked a product or two, but their upline was a butt or they moved or for whatever reason, they stopped buying the product.

MLM Lead Capture Pages

Before I get into some nuts and bolts about lead capture pages, lets define what a lead capture page is.  A lead capture page is a web page designed specifically to capture a persons name and email address (or additional information).

Most companies supply their distributors some sort of replicated web sites.

If you want to use the Internet in building your business, I highly recommend creating a lead capture page. You can waste a lot of money by sending Google traffic to your replicated site.

Some companies do not allow their name to be used on your lead capture page, but don't worry.  You want to focus on the benefits and strong points of the company, not the company name.

So let's pick what I consider to be the most difficult to build company in the world and create a short capture page about Amway/Quixtar.

Kim Klaver Questions the Internet

Kim Klaver asks:

Do you need the Internet to build a networking business?

I answer:

No.

But why wouldn't you use everything at your disposal in order to provide yourself an advantage?

The Internet is a tool. It is another arrow for your quiver. When I was actively building the Amway business (and yes, Quixtar people still build it this way), I would be looked upon as a hero if I could get 2 people (prospects) a week to an opportunity meeting.

Today, using the Internet, I can talk with 5 people a day that are interested in my products or business. I'll take 20 prospects a week over 2 prospects a week every time.

The trade off?

You must work a lot harder to build a relationship when you are not meeting face to face on a weekly basis.

Network Marketing - Direct Sales of Mobile Content

4 out of 10 Talk Products Online

According to a recent study, 4 out of 10 people talk about product experiences on the Internet via some sort of platform like blogs, message boards or opinion/rating sites.

I assure you, big companies are looking at these numbers and wondering how they can get some of these product evangelists (you) talking about their products.

The answer: Network Marketing.

A new study by Yahoo finds that shoppers aren't content to simply make purchases online but are also using the internet as a platform to tell others of their experiences. The study found that 40 percent of the respondents were "brand advocates," defined by the report as "adventurous opinion leaders who are socially well-connected, express their opinions and viewpoints and continually discover new content online," MediaPost reports.

How Much Does BWW or WWDB Charge for a DVD?

As I wrote about earlier, Quixtar is in the tools business, seemingly competing with WWDB and BWW for IBO tool dollars.

What is Digg and how do you get those "digg this" links?

Kim Klaver noticed that I have a new feature on the MLM Blog and asked me to explain, "What is Digg and how do you put those 'Digg this' buttons on your articles?".

What is Digg?

Digg is a website that allows users to submit a blog post or news story that they find interesting. The Digg magic begins when other Digg users "Digg" your story. If your story is deemed worthy by Digg users, it will rise on the Digg page and become popular.

Having a story or blog post gain traction on Digg can mean a big jump in traffic. I was Dugg not so long ago and it resulted in over 30,000 unique visitors over a 3 day period.

How did I get those cool "Digg This" links at the bottom of my posts?

The cool links at the bottom of my posts come from Feedburner. Feedburner is company that helps to make blog syndication easier to understand and use. The Feedburner plugin that controls the little links is called Feedflare.

Feedflare:

FeedFlare allows publishers to easily build “interactivity” into the content they create, making it simple for subscribers to tag, email or share their content with others. Publishers can include a variety of services including a live display of the number of comments to each post, the ability to email the author directly and show the number of blogs that link to their item.

For my widgets at the bottom of posts, I chose Digg, email this, and Track co.comments. I haven't explained it yet, but co.comments allows you to track the comments made on a particular blog post, I just explained Digg and email this allows you to email my post to a few hundred of your closest friends.

MLM Tech: Google Trends

Google Trends could be a very cool tool for Network Marketers.

Let's look at search interest of Quixtar vs. Xango to see how they are trending against one another (Quixtar is Blue and Xango is Red):

As you can see, interest in Quixtar has been trending downward, while interest in Xango has been trending upward and looks to have recently passed Quixtar. This may indicate that Xango is a "hotter" Network Marketing company at this time.

There is also a cool little tool that shows what city has the most searches for a word. This might be helpful in determining what city to focus your energy on if you have a large organization spread across many cities.

MLM Tech: Waxxi Podcasting Tool

I think Tracy Sheridan’s Waxxi is a great idea: a scheduled podcast where people can call in and participate (Frank Gruber has more). The kickoff podcast is with Naked Converstions authors Shel Israel and Robert Scoble, on May 20, 2006 at 10:30 AM PST. If you would like to participate, register on the Waxxi homepage and you will receive a toll free number to call and a participation code. I do not know if there is a limit on the number of participants.

MLM Tech: Skype on your cell phone

Tech Crunch:

Silicon Valley based SoonR has a beta product that allows users to access applications and files on their Windows computer  via their cell phone (no Mac support yet, but its coming). If your cell phone is web enabled, you can use SoonR to access Outlook, pictures and other files and applications on your PC. MobileCrunch reviewed SoonR back in March when it first went into Beta.

On Thursday SoonR will be announcing Soonr Talk, which will allow Skype calls to be made from a standard cell phone. It will work through SoonR’s basic product - access Skype on your home PC through your browser and initiate a call with a contact or contacts. SoonR will then call your cell phone from that PC (using Skype Out credits), and call the contacts via normal skype calling. Co-founder and VP Marketing Song Huang showed me the product in action and set up a call with a few key strokes on his cell. It works great.

SoonR is free, and will be launching premium services in the future (such as a feature that allows SoonR to work even if your PC is powered down - SoonR will cache the data you want to be able to access).

As soon as they have a Mac version of SoonR, I’m in. More screen shots here.

MLM Blog Comments: Tech Crunch is an incredible resource for new products and companies that will have an impact on Network Marketing.

MLM Tech - Skype

MLM Tech is a new feature at the MLM Blog, highlighting technology that might be of interest to Network Marketers.

Tech Crunch:

Skype is releasing version 2.5 beta of its client software on Wednesday. There are some cool new features: the ability to send and SMS to any worldwide cell phone, improved conference calling (you see who’s talking), and other small improvements.

Skype is also launching a preview of Skypecasts, a free new product that allows live, moderated Skype conversations of up to 100 people. The host may controls mute, eject and “microphone pass”. Skypecasts may be prescheduled and promoted via html snippets.

Skype is still lacking a record feature, and while there are some good third party products out there to bridge the gap, none seem to work on the new Intel Macs.

Blogging with Flock

You heard it here first unless you heard it somewhere else. Flock will be the browser of choice for the Network Marekting community. There are a lot of reasons, but here are a couple:

1. Blog posts can be made by highlighting a section of another blog, right clicking, and hitting "blog this". Up comes a screen with the highlighted information in quote format. I can save it as a draft and post it later or post it now with my comments.

2. Easily collect the feeds of sites you read and Flock will automatically create an aggregated view of your collections. For example, you pick a topic such as "MLM Motivation", collect feeds (simple as clicking) and you can see all of your feeds on one page.

Just when you thought Internet explorer, Mozilla and Opera is all that you can handle, here comes Flock! The new "social browser".Yep there are some new ideas involved here - enabling your browser for photo sharing, book mark sharing, blogging etc. along with other latest browser additions as rss parsing.

What I would love to have was an extension of Mozilla rather than yet another browser. If you care enough, you might have seen that some pages still require to be viewed through IE(example, msn websites) to function properly. So I don't think you can live with only one browser on your desktop if you want to satisfy all your whims.

Anyway, lot of things happening with flock, go take a look.

Podcasting - The Future of MLM Training?

It's one of those nights. Your daughter has a swimming meet at 7:00PM and your son has a soccer game at 7:15PM and then there is the Network Marketing conference call by the # 1 MLM trainer in 2004, Michael Oliver. You have looked forward to this call for months, but the call starts at 7:30, right in the middle of your kid's important events.

What do you do?

How about plugging your iPod into the USB port on your computer and having the conference call automatically feed into your MP3 player?

It's called Podcasting and according to Glenn Garnes at The Perfect Networker, "Podcasting can be used to distribute audio content to people wherever they may be, and have it be mobile so they can take it on the road with them, listen to it in the car, or anywhere else people go. You can distribute news, music, training, personal development content, or virtually anything else you can think of all on the fly.".

Podcasts can also be listened to right on your computer, but the neat thing about it is that you will be able to subscribe to the content you want, such as Passport Training or a weekly leadership radio show with Bo Short and it will automatically be delivered to you via RSS feed.

That's techie talk for "you won't have to miss the swim meet or soccer game".
