I did a post on my "Branding You For Success" blog about blogging myths...I also talked about grilling rat for dinner.

Spring Archive Cleaning

I cleaned up a bit of a mess in the MLM Blog archives today. The archives by date and category should now be a lot easier to navigate.

There are over 1,000 posts in the archives and a couple of them are actually pretty good, you should check them out at the MLM Blog Archive Page.

Free Blogs For Network Marketers

I have been offering free blogs to Network Marketers at the MLM Blog Network for over a year now and many people have seen great results from consistant blogging about their Network Marketing company.

However, one of the biggest bottlenecks with the network was my ability to set up requested blogs in a timely manner (if at all in some cases).

That said, I am pleased to announce the launch of MLMVox Beta. MLMVox is really the MLM Blog Network 2.0 with a snazzy new name and location.

Here is what's cool about the free blogs at MLMVox:

  • Automated Sign Up - you no longer have to wait for me to set up your account
  • Short URL (yoursite.mlmvox.com)
  • Fresh new web 2.0 look
  • Wordpress format

We are working on some other great stuff that will help drive lots of traffic to your MLMVox blogs like an RSS feed of Network Marketing company news and a special page that shows the most recently updated blogs, most active blogs (comments and posts) and lots more.

The most active blogs at MLMVox will also get free press at the most read Network Marketing blogs on the net, including here at the MLM Blog, MultiLeveler and the MLM Business Opportunities Weblog.

Let me know what you think, but please be nice, we are still in Beta.

Another Record Month At MLM Blog

Swedish_chef February was another record month for traffic at the MLM Blog, our unique visits were up by roughly 10,000 to 60,000 + and our page views were well over 100,000. All that with 3 less days in the month when comapred with January.

Our Alexa traffic ranking dipped under 100,000 for the first time, rare ground for a niche blog. It's back over 100,000, but not by much.

I found the MLM Blog Alexa ranking by country to be interesting. It looks like those Swedes be luvvin' the MLM Blog (I'm tight with the Swedish Chef Muppet):

Panama 9,069
Sweden 10,511
Canada 25,666
United States 34,825
Cyprus 37,369
South Africa 38,207
Ecuador 46,784
Australia 55,381
Costa Rica 67,541
Argentina 92,359
Poland 99,098
Netherlands 103,247
Chile 129,794
Portugal 130,219
Malaysia 151,082
Singapore 154,760
United Kingdom 206,605
Israel 209,475
India 224,195
Germany 246,653
Japan 429,124

MLM Blog Traffic

Thank you readers.

January was a monster month in terms of traffic here at the MLM Blog, no doubt our best month ever. I haven't compliled all of the numbers yet, (I don't have the same counter system on all pages), but it looks like we had 40,000 to 50,000 unique visitors and double that number in page loads/impressions.

The Alexa traffic ranking for MLM Blog is about to crack 100,000 and currently sits at 100,221. Alexa is said to be inaccurate for sites with a ranking greater than 100,000 so this is a milestone for the site.  I should point out that I do not use the Alexa tool bar. I suspect that when a blog author uses the Alexa tool bar while working on their own blog, the Alexa numbers can be skewed.

This site has grown way past my expectations, but if I could do one thing differently, I would have hosted the site on my own domain.

MyBlogLog

MyBlogLog, a social networking site seems to be catching on with the blogging community.

The site is very easy to navigate especially when compared with MySpace. I haven't spent very much time on MyBlogLog, but I already have several contacts.

I'm not sure how long MyBlogLog has been in business, but I do know that they were recently aquired by Yahoo.

Social networking for bloggers...why didn't I think of that?

Update: I should also mention that the neat little widget in the far right sidebar (the one with the faces) is from MyBlogLog.

Check out the new Hype Free Organge Ads

I am testing some new Hype Free ads in the side panel. Let me know if you like them.

Update: I added the No Promises, No Problems ads at the top of the MLM Blog main page as well....enjoy!

Home Business Today: Enhancing Your Blog

Blogs are a great, easy way to publish information in a timely manner. As a result, their popularity has skyrocketed.

However, to make blogs a really useful tool, you have to get people to come back and read regularly.

It’s just as true for your blog as it is your website that someone may take a look at what you’ve published and say to themselves, “This is interesting,” only to disappear, never to visit again.

Prevent this from happening to your blog by letting people know when you’ve published something new.

The MLM Blog Network Branches Off

The MLM Blog Network has two new sister blogs unrelated to MLM.

BizzGadget
and CelebritySmoosh are part of the newly formed network.

If you like to watch the train wreck that is Celebrity and Pop Culture, you should check out the writing of L.B. Bryant at CelebritySmoosh. L.B. mixes some geek/tech stuff in with celebrity gossip to make for interesting reading.

I am currently (temporarily) editing BizzGadget which is about business tools and gadgets.

I have a couple of leads on authors for a blog about Natural and Organic products, so that may be blog number 3.

If you are interested in writing for the new network, send me an email at ty (at) tribble.org.

BizzGadget needs another author and I would like to add 3-4 new blogs a month to the network.

Subjects include:

Aging and Beauty
Video Games
Diet and Healthy Cooking
Scrap-booking
TV
Movies

and whatever you may be passionate about.

The blogging positions are paid.

3 years of blogging at the MLM Blog

Friday, Novemeber 17th marked the 3 year anniversary of the MLM Blog at this web address. The MLM Blog auctually launched in October on another service that wasn't really set up for blogging.

For a little fun, I am going to run through the MLM Blog design timeline to see how the blog has evolved...

MLM Blog: November 2003

MLM Blog: November 2004

MLM Blog: Late 2005
(archive not formatting correctly, but design is there)

MLM Blog: November 2006

What the MLM Blog Network Can Do For You

The MLM Blog Network offers free blog hosting and promotion for those that want to write about a topic or company related to Network Marketing.

Have a look at some fo the Google search results from the network:

Monavie Blog: # 9 on Google

1 Step System: # 6 on Google

Cabi Clothing: # 1 and 2 on Google

Emerald Passport: # 5 on Google

Fruta Vida: # 7 on Google

Gano Excel: # 8 on Google

Gold Calling: # 1 on Google

If you would like to take advantage of this simple way to get your personal brand on the front page for a Google search of the company you represent, send me an email at mlmblog (at) mlmblog.net

Stupid Spammer?

Here on the MLM Blog, I have a form that allows folks to sign up for my newsletter, what I can not understand is why a spammer would sign up for my email list, hundreds of times.

MLM Blog News

So much is happening around the MLM Blog that I thought a short update might be in order:

The MLM Blog Network is going strong. We expect to grow our page views by 20% in September and I believe we will be nearing 100,000 views a month before the end of the year.

The MLM Blog Network offers free blogs to Network Marketers, allowing them to participate in the mutual traffic and search ranking that the Network creates.

We are looking for serious bloggers that would like to write about their opportunity. By serious, we mean 1-2 posts a day, 5 days a week. It is a great way to produce leads for your business.

MLM Podcasts has been relaunched with big names from the Network Marketing industry.  Check it out at MLMPodcasts.com or on MLM Podcast on iTunes.

MLMVox is now in beta launch. MLMVox is a web forum based on having an authentic conversation about Network Marketing. MLMVox has attracted some big name Network Marketers since it's launch and I expect it will continue to grow.

The MLM Blog has a new agreement with Peak Impact to offer MLM Blog readers high quality leads at great prices. Check out MLMLeadNetwork.com if you are in the market for MLM Leads.

For MLM Blog related stuff, feel free to email me at mlmblog (at) mlmblog.net.

Little phpBB Help?

Hello Geeks!

I would like to add a couple of phpBB forums to the MLM Blog Network of web sites (maybe more in the future).

I am looking for someone to do some minor design (add Google Adsense and Logos) and then ftp the phpBB package to a GoDaddy hosting account (unless you know of a better host).

I thought I would offer it here to my geeks before heading over to elance.

Peace!

Update: Based on some reader input and a little research, I think I am going to try Vanilla instead of phpBB. I am still looking for someone that would like to help get these sites up (two forums currently). Anyone interested can leave me a comment or email me at ty (at) tribble.org

Update II: I settled on punBB and so far so good. Check out MLMVox. I actually installed it myself, but I am still looking for help in adding mods.

The Imperial Palace Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi Sucks!

Fellow blogger, Dave Robison had an "interesting" experience at a casino recently. Have a look at his post:

The Imperial Palace Casino Sucks!

The views expressed by Dave are not mine, however I no longer plan on visiting the Imperial Palace while I am in Las Vegas later this week. OK, I never really planned on going to the Imperial Place in the first place but now I will NOT be lured...not even for a 99 cent shrimp cocktail.

The Trouble with Tribble's

If you haven't checked out MLM Lead Solutions and author Dan Mitchell, you should.

I never knew that MLM Leads could be purchased from real people. If I wanted to learn more about MLM Leads and then purchase them from some cool people, I would check out the MLM Lead Solutions Blog, right away quick.

Here is a recent post:

According to Wikipedia:

Tribbles are small, soft, gentle fictional animals in the Star Trek universe whose cute appearance and soothing purring endears them to every sentient race which encounters them — except Klingons.

I only know the one Tribble - Ty Tribble. And his MLM Blog.

Thanks for welcoming me to your universe Mr. Tribble. Enjoy Lake Chelan.

More Site Tweaks Coming

I am tweaking the MLM Blog template in order to add a digg and email widget and a few other things.

I'm learning a lot and hope to have the tweaks wrapped up in the next week or so.

Meanwhile, I hope you are enjoying the new MLM Blogger, Aaron Cook. I am!

Template Fixed

It looks like I had a template glitch today.

So you know, the only Network Marketing company I am involved with is Oasis LifeSciences.

Design Changes

I have been wanting to move to a 2 column right format for the MLM Blog for some time now and decided that tonight is the night.

I will be tweaking "what goes where" over the next couple of days.

Stay tuned.

A good response

Either I made some sense or people felt sorry for me. I'm going to stick with the making sense story about advertising on the MLM Blog.

I have one Quixtar IBO ad that will start on Tuesday and I just received a phone call from the UK from another gentleman that would like to place an ad.

As promised, I am going to post an advertorial about the Quixtar IBO and his business. That should be interesting.

I am also going to be working on some type of side panel feed for another blogger. (If you know of any tools out there that would make this easy, please let me know).

Update: You can now see a feed from Kim Klaver's blog in the upper right side panel of the MLM Blog. The feed will update when Kim updates her blog. It's a neat idea and all Kim's. I am going to be pretty picky about the feed ads. Kim is someone that I truly admire and if you read her blog you will see that we agree on an awful lot. Enjoy Kim Klaver!

What's Multileveler?

I have the pleasure of being the new author of Multileveler, a blog about Network Marketing from Know More Media.

Multileveler is going to be a cross between the MLM Blog (you are here) and the MLM Business Opportunities Blog that I write for Dane Carlson. Both the MLM Blog and the MLM Opportunities Blog have seen record unique visitors over the last week.

MLM Blog Unique Visitors last week: over 2700

MLM Business Opportuntities Unique Visitors last week: over 11,000

There is no place in my mind that I could have imagined having almost 14,000 people read what I have to say in a week.

I am humbled...but I have more to say.

I think you are going to like Multileveler. It will have it's own unique flavor. So, stop in, say hi, and leave a comment.

If you have any story ideas for Multileveler, send me an email: ty (at) multileveler (dot) com.

Blatant Promotion

A couple of weeks ago, I placed some new ad space on the MLM Blog. (look up there in the left hand side panel where it says "Advertise on the MLM Blog" - there it is)

Well, no one has purchased any ad space and I'm not sure why.  So I want to kind of lay it all out on the table and get your input.

For $1 (the price of a one day ad), you can have your business exposed to over 350 Unique Visitors and over 700 page views. Based on my experience, approximately 7% of the page views click through to an ad. So I would estimate that your $1 ad would get somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-50 hits in a day. Keep in mind, visitors to MLM Blog are searching for information on Network Marketing companies and the people involved.

There is also some novelty to being the first one to advertise, so you might be able to expect even more hits than usual. (People are curious.)

For $7, you can get an entire week of advertising or over 2400 unique visitors and 4900 page views. A bargain, no?

So, am I missing something? Is that not a good deal? Why hasn't anyone bought an ad?

Oh! I get it. You need a free bonus. OK. Buy a weeks worth of advertising and I will post an "advertorial" on the MLM Blog that will talk about you and your business and remain in the permanant MLM Blog archive forever.

More than anything, I want to see the results you get. I don't really need the 7 bucks. Don't be shy. Click that link in the left hand panel and be the first.

Pssst. It's Dane Carlson's Birthday

Bush_birthday_1 Dane Carlson is the mastermind behind a host of great blogs in the Business Opportunities Network. I am honored to be a small part of the network by authoring the eBay and MLM blogs.

George Bush and I would like to wish Dane a very Happy Birthday.

Squeet eMail Blog Subscription

I have wanted to put a "subscribe by email" link on the MLM Blog for some time and I finally found one that I like. It's over there, in the left side bar. Squeet will also send you updates on any blog once you subscribe...Squeet is pretty sweet. (har har)

Missing Banner

For some reason my banner is not showing up. I have sent an email to Typepad, (my blog host), for help. This is indeed the original MLM Blog, you just don't get to see the nifty banner that says all that.

Update: The banner seems to be back. I have had pretty good luck with Typepad. I know hey have had some server issues, but count me lucky.

Update 2 (Electric Booglaloo): It's gone again replaced by a new banner "Image Not Available".

I don't get Google

This site is No. 1 on Google for "MLM Blog" and "Network Marketing Blog" but if you do a Google Blog Search for MLM, it is not listed under related blogs. Wouldn't you think that the No. 1 blog related to MLM and Network Marketing would be listed under related blogs for MLM and Network Marketing?

I know that I have two other projects listed under MLM (one of them twice), so I am not really complaining, just perplexed.

A friend of mine once told me "never try to figure out Google". I should listen.

Problem with Typepad

If you visited my blog today, you may have noticed that a bunch of posts and comments were missing. Typepad (this blogs host) was down for much of the day and they used the back up information to get us partially up and running again.

Sorry for any inconvenience!

Design a new MLM Blog Banner

I want need a new MLM Blog banner. If you come up with a cool design that I use on this blog, keeping with the current theme colors (you can add additional colors or whatever, just be sure it goes with what we have in place), I will send you a $25 Starbucks card.

My only requirement (other than the color thing) is that I want to let people know that they can access the MLM Blog via our URL: www.mlmblog.net. Other than that, I am open to any and all entries.

Send your entries to: mlmblog (at) mlmblog.net

The Deadline to enter is November 23rd.

Recent Posting

If you are a long time reader and some of the recent posts look familiar, I am taking the time to repost some thoughts and opinions that I previously removed. Word.

MLM Business Opportunities Weblog

Today is the official launch of the MLM Business Opportunities Weblog. The new blog is a spinoff off of the highly successful Business Opportunities Weblog by Dane Carlson.

When I launched the MLM Blog in 2003, I had no idea that I would one day get paid to blog. Needless to say,  I am honored to be working with Dane and look forward to this new adventure.

In addition to the MLM Business Opportunities Weblog, Dane is also launching the Work At Home Business Opportunities Blog:

Manning the helm of Work at Home Business Opportunities is Chuck Huckaby. Chuck’s been writing about the quest to work at home since 1995, so he knows what scams to look out for. Chuck also blogs at The Work At Home Secrets Blog.

It wouldn’t be fitting with the theme of our blogs to call the two new bloggers “employees”, but their addition brings the total number of staff in Business Opportunities Weblog network to five: three bloggers, our advertising sales guy, and me. All of the bloggers in the network are paid a flat rate per post that grows as their traffic and readership rises.

If you’re interested in blogging for us (I want to start blogs on eBay, Franchises, WAHMs before the end of the year), or want to find a way for our businesses to work together, shoot me an email or call me at 209-765-1656.

Gnomedex in Seattle

Even though Gmomedex took place in Seatte, I missed it! The day I heard about it in a Seattle Times article, was the day after it had sold out.

I assure you, I will not miss next years conference. It may be a little too techy for me, but I like to borrow (steal) ideas that I can use in everyday business from people that are way smarter than I am.

Listen to the Gnomedex Keynote Speech from Adam Curry.

Add MLMBlog to My Yahoo

If you have "My Yahoo", you can add the MLMBlog to your page My Yahoo Contect for MLMBlog.

It's a neat way to keep track of several blogs.

Minor Blog Redesign

MLMBLog underwent a minor redesign over the last 24 hours. I added a search tool in order to easily find topics in the archives and links to recent comments. In addition I made some minor changes to the color scheme and font styles.

I am planning a series of posts on the state of Network Marketing and MLM centered around the following quote from E-Myth author Michal Gerber:

Network Marketing is based in the mathematical reality of leverage; but too often that reality is combined with the unmathematical promise that it's easy to create that leverage.

I want to discuss what works and what doesn't work and the changes that we (advocates of MLM) must make in order to help bring this industry out of resistance and on the path to acceptance.

MLMBlog in Spanish, French, Italian, and German

This is pretty cool. I found this Google tool via my statistics page. (Someone had translated the MLM Blog into spanish.)

I am pleased to present MLM Blog International:

Natural Selling in Network Marketing

Has anyone ever told you that Network Marketing is a numbers game? Many Network Marketers believe that the way to build a big business is to present your opportunity to 10 - 15 people a month and let the chips fall where they may. However if your goal is to present 10 people your business plan each month, you will probably have 8 people reject you. Having people reject you is no fun.

Most people will tell you that the number one fear in Network Marketing is the fear of rejection. I believe rejection is manifested when Persuasion Marketing is used as the primary way to build a business.

Natural Selling is basically the opposite of Persuasion Marketing.

Michael Oliver, author of 'How To Sell Network Marketing Without Fear,
Anxiety or Losing Your Friends!' has recently launched a new blog dedicated to Natural Selling.

Michael writes:

What if the reason that only about 10% of Distributors are successful, is simply because they created the systems and techniques that work for them... but, don’t work for you?

AND WHAT IF YOU COULD CHANGE THIS…?

I believe that Natural Selling is prominent in making Network Marketing comfortable for the average person. When we (Network Marketers) can make our industry comfortable and maybe even cool for the masses, we may begin to fulfill some of the hype and promises that have been so empty for such a long time.

The lawBlawg

I will certainly keep my eye on this new blog, lawBlawg - Legal news, opinions and analysis about MLM, pyramid schemes, ponzi schemes and other suspect investment "opportunities.".

While you are it, have a look in my links section in the left side menu. There are some good blogs that deserve your attention.

The QuixtarBlog is down but not out. I am certain it will be back up soon.

Difference Makers

I have been reading Difference Makers for a couple of weeks now and wanted to share the latest post from this well written blog.

We're taking an emergency trip to visit with one of the most influential Difference Makers that has ever impacted my life. He is a man of modest means with a generous spirit. He is man of unyielding principle, but gentle in every respect.

His life is a classic American story. His mother was an immigrant from Czechoslovakia at age 17. She raised eight children on a very meger income. Some of his siblings were raised in foster homes. He is the youngest of the eight; the baby of the family.

As a young man he learned the value of hard work. This training provided him the fortitude to complete his college education while still holding down a full-time teaching job at a vocational school. In addition, he operated a part-time home improvement business in the evenings and on Saturdays.

He was and is a faithful husband. His first wife passed away in 1994 after 43 years of marriage. The following year, he met a lady that has complemented his life for the past 9 years. During his first marriage, he not only met the needs of his job, part-time business and church responsibilities, but cared for his ailing wife for a period of over 10 years.

He is the epitome of character. His word is his bond. His life is an example of consistency and constancy. Faithfulness and selflessness characterize his service to his home, church and community.

All this to say I am going to spend some precious time with my dad. No business, job or earthly good comes close to the value this man has added to my life. He is a Difference Maker...

Read the remainder of this wonderful post here: A Difference Maker

If my son or daughter ever writes or speaks of me in such a manner, I will consider myself a success, regardless of status, wealth, or possessions.

I will update soon, I promise. Read the archives.

Adventures in Multi Level Blog

I have to say that my first impression of the Adventures in Multi-Level (or "Network") Marketing, Chronicling the continuing adventures of my girlfriend in the cutthroat world of mult-level marketing blog was "Hey this is a QBlog knockoff! But after reading the first post, I sincerely hope the author continues on with his posts.

Here is a snip:

My first experience with an MLM was with a company I'll call ABC vitamins. Their product line consists of vitamins, supplements, diet aids, etc. To this day I am still taken aback by the deceit and cunning that were used to bring this "business opportunity" to me, or rather, me to it. I'd sooner go to a "Flintstones Go To Rock-Vegas the Movie" themed birthday party for a ranking KKK member than attend another one of these "opportunity meetings."

That is quite a visual and I have to agree, most opportunity meetings are very uncomfortable. One thing to keep in mind is that the opportunity meetings are a revenue source for the bigwigs in MLM so they will likely continue doing them as long as people will attend.

I believe conference calls and web meetings will take the place of the opportunity meeting in the next few years. This all has to do with what I percieve as the changing face or evolution of MLM. Value and Technology will drive the shift in MLM. You heard it here first or somewhere else...

Work At Home Dad Blog and Community

I would like to announce two new websites that have recently been launched. The goal with these sites is to provide "no hype" information for people that are looking to work from home, whether full or part time.

I believe good opportunities exist. Let's discuss them.

A Blogging Boo Boo

Hi Kids,

I would like to talk about my "Blog Boo Boo". When I was going to make a post today I re-read the post I made on Nov. 29th titled "What's Passport? Part IV". Well after reading the post, I realized that it didn't make much sense in the context without first understanding a little more about my feelings towards MLM. So I changed the "What's Passport? Part IV" post to "My Stance on MLM/Network Marketing".

Well, I didn't think about the possibilties so elequently pointed out to me by QBlog below:

I asked "Did I break a blog rule? = )"

QBlog Wrote:

Well, yes and no. It's your blog and you can do whatever you want. If you want to change posts without notification then that's your prerogative. However, you must remember a few things about blog posts.

Often other bloggers base entire posts on what some other blogger has posted. If I were to construct a post and link to the inspirational post on your blog and then find that it had substantively changed without any notification, then my post would be diminished because of the absense of additional context. So, it is generally best NOT to substantively change posts but instead include an update under the original. Or, if you must substantively change a post, then make it obvious that it has been done and if you can, explain why it was changed.

The other reason is just credibility. If you read an article somewhere and it was substantively changed the next time you read it you'd probably have waning confidence in the credibility of the article's author. Same is true with blogs, only not so pronounced.

The key word in all this is substantively. Correcting facts or grammar is usually no big deal. Changing the post to say something completely different is a big deal, to many.

Just always keep in mind that blogs are not posted in a vacuum. They are part of a larger community and there is always the chance that your post will be the foundation for someone else's post.

That's all I got. Answer your questions?

Yes you did.

New Look MLMBlog

I am launching the new look MLMBlog today. I will be adding new features as I learn more about the new program. Meanwhile, check out the "Categories", an easy way to find the stuff you might be looking for, located in the left hand menu.

Thanks for reading!

Blogging

I was looking through a list of Listed on Blogwise Blogs tonight and a thought came to my mind. Why in the world are there no Pro-Quixtar blogs on the internet? If I read the Quixtar rules correctly it is OK to have a Personal Home Page and I believe a personal blog would fall into this category.

C'mon kids...it's not that hard.

QBlog was kind enough to put together a How and Why to Start a Blog. I personally use Blog Builder.
